Nantucket is 30 miles south of Cape Cod. At 48 square miles, it's a place you'll need to travel by cab. The ferry for Nantucket leaves from Hyannis, Massachusetts. The island was settled substantially before 1700, and since then, the architecture and streets have remained the same cobblestone and cottages. There is a very deep history here, especially in previously popular offshore whaling.
